The Goose Eye pattern is a classic double knitting design (double knitting in the old vernacular which means using 2 yarns, not double sided). The hat is a classic rolled brim watch-cap style hat suitable for a man or woman. This hat, even though it is described as an intermediate pattern, might be a perfect choice for someone who is comfortable with basic knitting and perhaps not yet quite comfortable with stranded color work, as colors are not carried for more than 2 or 3 stitches, ever. The colorwork portion is fun, having a syncopated rhythm that is easy to memorize and fun to execute. I would think of it as a skill builder pattern.
