Commelina Shawl
  0 customer reviews

Commelina is commonly known as the dayflower due to the short lives of their flowers. In China, the plant is known as yazhicao, which roughly translates into "duck foot herb", it is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb. However, since it's been introduced to parts of Europe and North America it has spread and is now considered a noxious weed. The Commelina flower has two large showy petals that are typically blue.

This rectangular shawl is worked in one piece. Alternating strips of Commelina Flowers and Elongated Leaves remind you of a walk in a flower garden. This is a very light and airy elegant shawl.

But looks can be deceiving, this shawl is for the adventurous knitter and not for the faint of heart. It is very challenging in it's use of seven different decreases: five knit side and two purl side. The shawl is edged with a simple seed stitch border. Lace patterns are written, not charted.
