The flat top is worked from the center outward in a non-uniform increase pattern and results in a natural looking crown without noticeable increase lines.
The amount of structure of the hat crown is flexible: it can be more structured with an inserted circular foam crown support or less structured without inserted support. The fold-under twisted-rib facing provides grip and stability at the bottom edge, and the i-cord trimmed supported brim (template included) provides additional interest.
