Belle Epoque Fringed Wrap
Belle Epoque is an up-to-the-minute fashion accessory constructed of very traditional elements: simple faggotting, an elaborate scalloped lace edging, and a knotted fringe. Though the overall result looks complex, the wrap is knitted in one piece from end to end and grows quickly on large needles.
The design was inspired by a tiny piece of antique edging from the late 19th century, knitted on fine wires and pinned to hand-written instructions on lined paper. It was a joy to translate this lovingly preserved artifact into a garment for modern living.
Knitted in one piece flat, back and forth in rows on circular needles. Garter-based lace, same appearance on both sides. Fringe applied with crochet hook.
