After many requests (lol just kidding, ONE request, but it was heartfelt enough that i decided to write up my pattern) here is my hat pattern:

==========================
Swish Worsted weight yarn in Dublin, Lawn, and Bok Choy. (You can use 3 colors of your choice, preferable a light , medium, and a dark.)

size 8 needles or size needed for gauge. 5 stitches to the inch.

I use a 16 " until i get to the crown decreases, then i switch to a long circ for magic loop. You can use DPNs if you wish.

Size:
Baby 0-6 months, 16-17"

A = Dark (Dublin)
B = Medium (Lawn)
C = Light ( Bok Choy)

CO 84 stitches in A, long tail cast on. join, place marker.
1 - 8 Knit 8 rounds
9 - Turning round for picot edge: (K2Tog, YO) across
10 - 12 - knit 3 rounds.

Colorwork starts: (note - There is no need to tack floats, as the color changes are very close together)
13 - [A, C] REPEAT
14 - Knit all stitches in C
15 - [C,C,A] REPEAT
16 - [A,A,B] REPEAT
17 - [B,B,C] REPEAT
18 - Knit all stitches in C (NOTE - This is the row you will tack the cast-on edge to, to turn the facing under.. Either knit it together now, or tack it later, see note below.)
19 - [B,C] REPEAT
20 - [C,B] REPEAT
21 - [B,C,C,C] REPEAT
22 - [A,B,C,B] REPEAT
23 - [B,C,C,C] REPEAT
24 - Knit all stitches in C
25 - Knit all stitches in C
26 - [C,C,B,C] REPEAT
27 - [B,C,C,C] REPEAT
Continue on color C for the rest of the hat.

Knit about 7 more rows, or until the hat is about 5 inches from picot edge.

Now start Decreases:

35 - [K5, K2tog], repeat
36 - Knit
35 - [K4, K2tog], repeat
36 - Knit
35 - [K3, K2tog], repeat
36 - Knit
35 - [K2, K2tog], repeat
36 - Knit
35 - [K1, K2tog], repeat
36 - Knit
35 - [K2tog], repeat until there are 4 stitches left.

Cut yarn. Pull yarn through 4 stitches, pull tight.

[Top with pea pod, or tassels or crochet curlies, in each of the 3 colors, as you like. The pea pod is from the book Amigurumi Knits, so i can't print it!]

Note: If you did not knit the picot edge facing at row 18, you will now want to hand stitch it in place. First, baste it in place at the cardinal points, north south east west, and then simply tack in place. It will be easy to just tack it to row 18, as it is the only one-color row in the area.

Earflaps -

Pick up 8 stitches close to the cast on edge (which should be turned under and tacked in place.

Moss stitch for 8 rows (K1, P1, then p1, k1 next row)
Row 9: SSK, Moss, K2tog
Row 10: moss stitch
Repeat rows 9 & 10 until 4 stitches left.
SSK, K2Tog, pass stitch over.

cut yarn, leaving a 36" tail. Pull yarn through 4 stitches, pull tight.
With a crochet hook, ch 35 stitches, finish off.

Repeat on other side of hat for other ear flap.
