So Many Projects...So Little Time!

I am indeed making progress on my Sipalu Bag, as you can see:

Sipalu2

A friend and I are doing it as a local (as opposed to virtual) KAL. I'm up to row 8 on the side panel. We want to have all 17 rows of the side panel done by Wednesday, so we can move on to the welt. We'll see if that happens. I did the provisional CO using Palette in Bark, which I happened to have. (Of… Continue

The Philosophy of Frogging

Well, I ended up having to frog again! This time, it was because I did follow the directions. Only the directions I followed were from EZ's The Opinionated Knitter. I had finished the increases for the thigh and tried it on for length. Oooo! Way too wide for my leg at that point. I checked my numbers, and they were OK. Then I checked in Knitter's Almanac just for the heck of it. I discovered that there is some wording in the little Almanac book that is not contained… Continue

David's Cap is Finished!

David's cap is dry and ready to send to Wisconsin. I had a lot of fun making it. I blocked it by wetting it with Kookaburra Wool Wash and letting it dry on a balloon blown up to the size of David's head. (I got the idea from my friend Rob, who is an avid knitter, and is now in Hawaii...knitting a scarf!) Here's what it looks like--

Spinning is Growing on Me!

OK, I'm up to skein #4. Here's what it looks like:

Skein#4

I'm enjoying the process, and I'm happier with the product. I find it a nice activity for the evening when I'm tired. It doesn't take as much concentration as a complicated knitting pattern. In the spinning class I took, the teacher had us wind our single ply into a center-pull skein. Then she had us ply the yarn… Continue

Having Trouble with a Published Pattern?

I just sent out a news report to my knitting group, reminding them to check a publisher's "errata" or "corrections" if they run into problems with a pattern in a book. My SIL called me to her house yesterday, because she was having difficulty with a cardigan she has been making. The shoulders weren't working out right. The back had a much different number of sts than the front. She had taken the shoulders out several times. She kept thinking the problem was hers. I couldn't figure it out,… Continue

On to the Next Project!

Alex's Gloves are finished and she's wearing them (although I modeled them in the photo...thanks for the photo, Rob!) It was a fun project, and she was able to take them with her when she left to go back to California. I really enjoyed working with the Imagination Sock Yarn. I know this yarn has taken some flack lately for not being machine-washable, but I loved working with it! (I did warn her not to put them into the washer, though.) They're also… Continue
