High Fiber—Baby Storms the Bastille..and Arrives Early!

The stork decided that Johan Aro Stuart needed to try out his BSJ and his Horse Baby Quilt sooner than scheduled. He arrived Saturday night, four weeks early.

Even though little Johan is pre-term, he is still a good size, 6 lbs 6 oz and 18" long. Other than some…

High Fiber—Getting out of Dodge

High Fiber—Getting out of Dodge

Another crazy week! However, the next week should be calmer. More on that later. The BSJ for BS2 is almost finished.

Just the shoulder/sleeve seams and buttons to go. That won't take long, so I'm putting it off for a bit, since BS2 isn't…

High Fiber—The Skies of Roswell

It's Like the Skies of Roswell! Except this is a different kind of UFO.

My Yei Figures Bag is finished except for adding the beads to the necklaces and bolos.

I decided to line it with some nice quilting fabric.…

High Fiber—Winter Projects

We were supposed to have Vintage Stitchers at my house last Thursday, but DH is still down with a bad cold, one we would rather not share with our friends. Barbara stepped in (she was my backup in case of snow) and hosted us at her house. Ellen is back in town and brought her Hibiscus quilt top to give to Julie for quilting.…

High Fiber—Ghost of Christmas (and Birthday) Presents!

I was too sick to enjoy my birthday, but I'm enjoying it now. This was my big present from DH, for a big birthday (hint: it has a "0" in it).

This loom was made about 40 years ago for my friend Joanie by Tools of the Trade, Fair Haven, VT. The craftsman who made it was Arthur Weitzenfeld. It's a 45", which means it can make a piece that's 45" wide.…

High Fiber—Happy Hanukkah, Everyone!

Happy Hanukkah, everyone! Zachary and Daphne got to celebrate with "Bubbye" and "Zayde" by way of Skype. What would we do without Skype?

When they come here, we will celebrate Christmas. Lucky kids, get to have Hanukkah and Christmas both!

Speaking of Christmas, I have…

High Fiber—Dogs and Demos

It has been a busy week. So busy, in fact, that I forgot to put my knitting up and left it in a chair. DH put it on the floor.

Sunny decided she could improve on my version of the Dogwood Blossoms…

High Fiber—Travel

We arrived in Beaverton, OR, yesterday. Lots of knitting time in the car!

The BSJ is turning out well. I haven't decided on the buttons yet. Will have to look around for some nice ones.

The hat I made last week was so…

High Fiber—Adventures in Colorado and Other Stuff

Progress on the Fiji sock!

I just returned from a weekend trip to Grand Junction, Colorado, to help register voters. It was about five hours each way, so there was lots of knitting time in the car. (It's amazing how much you can get done cooped up in the car.) The yarn is
Knit Picks Glimmer in Fiji. The…

High Fiber—Happy Birthday, Daphne!

Today is Daphne's birthday! It's hard to believe it has already been two years!

Here's one of her new toys. It's a castle slide, just right for a little princess with an imagination and lots of energy. Baxter, the dog, enjoys watching her play on it, especially because it means she plays outdoors longer. Her little brother is…

High Fiber—More Baby Stuff

I'm making progress on Zachary's quilt.

The pattern is the Chiloquilters Train Quilt. They placed the trains in strips, but in my version, there will be two trains, each going around two sides of the quilt, with a "tunnel" between each, so four blocks by four blocks. I designed the "tunnel." The other blocks are from the original quilt. I'll…

High Fiber—Fast Forward to February

The Sundance Film Festival is over. The celebs have left town, and only the skiers are left. It was fun volunteering, especially with such great fellow volunteers, like Bev (my supervisor):

We've seen some great films. To check them out, see the Sundance website.

I worked long hours, and even though I took my knitting, I didn't get as much other stuff done. On my day…

High Fiber—More Baby Projects

Since my last blog post, I have started two new knitting projects and made a start on Daphne's "I-spy" quilt.

If you aren't familiar with this quilting tradition, the idea is to use lots of fabrics that depict objects a child might be familiar with: animals, foods, toys, flowers, etc. You tell the child, "I spy a (name of object)" and let them find it in the quilt. It's a game, but it's also a way for a small child to increase his or her…

High Fiber—FOs and New Starts

In spite of a bad cold, I finished Zachary's BSJ.

DGD1 (also suffering from a cold) finished her first hat:

It's the  F346 Coffee Beenz Hat from Plymouth Yarn. She used the yarn I spun from Gaywool fiber…

High Fiber--Family and Friends...and Birthday!

What a Christmas it has been! How wonderful to have family around you with it's accompanying chaos!

Daphne's BSJ is perfect; just big enough to be able to last for a while, but still small enough to wear now! The quilt was a big hit, too! They loved the colors and the label with the photo of their little…

High Fiber--Gone Batty!

Halloween is over, and we wonder what to do with all the leftover candy. It's a good thing we got Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, our favorite! However, some knitting, spinning and quilting have been accomplished.

1) Knitting: The first sleeve of my La Boheme cardigan (new name) is about 3/4 finished. The new name is because I worked on the lower body while watching La Boheme at Utah Opera. The cardi isn't likely to die of consumption,… Continue
