A few years ago I decided to resurrect my knitting skills when I needed portable projects to entertain me during the long Iowa winter. While I'd knitted for years, I chose to try something I had never done.....knitting socks! From my first pair of baby socks, I was hooked. The majority of my first socks have been distributed as gifts. As of last night, I now own 2 pair!

I hadn't realized how much he was stressing about leaving our house here until just last week. I wasn't worried at all! But we did have a house rented up there already- super reasonable price and just 4 miles from his work- out in the country. He drives 35 miles one way here. Argh. I hate the thought of winter again. :P
Oh, I forgot to say... We almost moved up toward your neck of the woods last summer. My husband had a job offer that he tried out for 3 days- in Dunlap. My girls would have gone to school in Dow City. I liked the area- but he decided he didn't want the job- even with the higher pay! Oh well. He needed to be happy, too. :) Maybe if our house down here would have been sold already, it would have been more of a sure thing.
Cindy- Thanks for writing me back. I wouldn't worry too much about offending anyone. :) We all know exactly where you were coming from. :) I wasn't a yarn snob all that long ago and it was just because I was too blasted cheap to pay for shipping! When I discovered Knit Picks- that threw my 'miserly' excuse out the window, and I'm so glad it did! I'm even spinning my own yarn now thanks to this site and all the encouragement- and KP now carrying spinning supplies! Lol!
