If you're interested, and you haven't found us yet, the BSJ KAL is up and running. We'll also have some participants who have done the ASJ, so check it out. --P

I posted my two new EZ ASJs ( Adult Surprise Jackets) on my page--great fun!! The back is a plain horizontal stripe with the pattern, so I played with shaping stripes on the second one. The first jacket, I played with an extension of the front to "modernize" the shape. The icord button holes work perfectly!! Great fun!! I used an acrylic boucle #5 with #10 1/2 needles, the wool just isn't appropriate for this climate! So, it works up rather quickly!!

Your BSJ is so cute! The socks look a little big for the baby, though, LOL! --P

Yes, it works!! you can do the icord buttonholes flat!! I did the BO with icord and where I wanted the BH, I switched the icord to free for a space, meanwhile, I passed over the BOstitches without the knit, and continued the icord BO!!--it works perfectly!!

Oh, right! I remember that one. Yes, I think that would look much nicer for most types of sweaters. Good point! I've never done it the way you're talking about, but it sounds as if it might work. --P

If you're doing the icord as a cast off--it would leave some rows without cast off following that method--Pickle and I are wondering if you couldn't just pass those stitches over (instead of the full psso) that you are skipping. It may make the button hole a tad larger but fine--and do the full unattached icord for the buttonhole!! I prefer her flat icord bh instead of the loop, it looks bulky unless it's a folk jacket??

Have you tried making an I-cord loop right where you want the buttonhole. EZ shows how to do that in the DVD Knitter's Workshop. You just continue making I-cord without attaching each row, and when it's long enough to go around the button, you start attaching again where you left off. It makes a loop. If you already know this, maybe I didn't understand what you're trying to do. --P
