I would love an "All Questions Accepted" Knitalong. I often have questions about things (gauging, seaming, pattern questions) for knits that do not have anything to do with your knitalongs, and I don't know where to post them. I know it's not really a knitalong, but it would be an invaluable resource to me - I'm the most advanced knitter I know, and I still consider myself a beginner. Hopefully it would help other people as well!

We have this type of KAL in the works!

Oh! This is the most wonderful news of the day. Thank you very much!!!

Sorry if this has already been suggested, and if impractical, feel free to ignore my idea, but I think it would be neat to have a knitalong for those who are newbies to knitting! I'm working on my first project now, and I would like to be in a group with other newbies who are learning. We could learn together and it could be a place for information on ideas for knitting. We could then share photos of our first projects, and even if they've got some obvious mistakes in them, that would be okay since everyone else is just learning too!

Like I said, if this is impractical, OR if it's an idea that needs tweaking, I understand!

Would anyone like to start a knit along using the new lace shawl kit? i'm brand new to lace knitting and would love some guidance.

How about add a discussion to the lace KAL? I'm sure others are doing the sampler project, too. You'll soon find yourself among other people with help and support! --Peggy

Janet: You can always go at your own pace. People who have five pots of coffee by 10:00 AM may get done faster, but isn't it better to smell the roses? --P

Thank you! I just heard from a knitter in my area who would like to meet in a city park while the weather is good......definitely a rose-opp, huh???? 5 pots of coffee????? WOW! I used to do that, but now I limit my intake (maybe that's why I am so slooooooooow?) Off to tutor math! Happy knitting--and keep up with the encouraging words, as I see you offering lots of encouragement on the CLC KAL. My yarn has yet to arrive, but I look forward to knitting all the way, as I can "pick" that way. Never figured out how to "purl pick," though!

Janet: I think I have photos for that. I'll check. --P

Yes! Here we go.

To purl, move the yarn to the front using only wrist movements. (Left hand moves towards you, right hand moves away.)

Put the needle into the st from back to front, bring it up and in front of the yarn.

Grab the yarn with the right needle, using the tension on the yarn to keep it on the needle. You will go up, over and back down in back.

Bring the yarn down and out through the st on the left needle.

Finished purl st.
For ribbing, use only the wrists to move the yarn from front to back for a knit st or back to front for a purl.
There are other ways to hold your yarn with your left hand. Use whatever works for you. --P

Thanks--I will bring my socks to the computer and try. I hold my left finger quite close to the needle, so that may be the problem. The pictures make it easier to see....everyone I know is so fast when they knit this way that I have trouble following, and they usually have trouble slowing down to show me!

Janet: It's actually better if your left index finger is close to the needle. You can knit faster that way. I was trying to keep everything open so you can see. --P
