Does Knit Picks carry a yarn in a light teal or turquoise color? It doesn't matter what weight as I want it to make a shawl and I won't decide on a pattern until I have a yarn in mind.
Also, is there any way to search on the Knit Picks site for a color or family of colors? Angela listed all the greens in a blog post and it was very helpful!
Gorgeous! Love the Gloss Lace in Aegean too. Thanks so much for the links. Now I have to choose ... don't suppose you could make the decision for me too? :)
It all depends on the effect you'd like! The "Turquoise Splendor" is a little deeper and bolder, while the "Mermaid" is a gentle, soft color, reminiscent of large turquoise stones set in heavy silver jewelry.
I'm a "color snob" so being able to hunt for fibers by colorway, as well as fiber content and weight, on the site would be really helpful... hadn't thought about it, but I would appreciate that option, too. :-)
I think you should keep in mind that, if you use Palette for socks, they should be reserved for something special. They don't wear as well as regular sock yarn. I literally loved mine to death! Some wooly nylon or other reinforcement yarn would help. --Peggy
Just got my most recent order--I want to dive right into it, but I'm making myself finish "The Stupid Cardigan from Hell that My Daughter Just HAS to Have" first.
But may I just say that the color photograph of the Iris Heather Alpaca Cloud doesn't begin to do it justice? I don't know how any photograph could capture the tiny strands of all the colors it contains. It's even better than I expected.
I'm with you there - a basket full of the new Shimmer colors for me, once I finish the "My Sister Just Had To Have a Seed Stitch Hoodie for Her Birthday" sweater.
Until I held it in my hand, I had no idea that the Iris Heather had so many colors blended into it - everything from indigo to an almost salmon-colored pink, with little flecks of tan. Midnight Heather surprised me the same way. I bought it thinking that it was navy with flecks, but it actually has all of these twists of color that make it look like a mallard duck's plumage - blues and greens and teal on a dark, dark background.
I would like to know which yarns have more stretch and which have less stretch. For instance, I think linen is "stiffer" or less stretchy than wool. Sometimes I want a finished item that won't have bounce or stretch in it, like some kinds of lace.
Could we maybe have a tutorial on this? Or some way to tell which yarns will be stretchier, softer, or more rigid? Thanks.
Absolutely! There's a tutorial available here that has ton of information on the pilling, washability, heat retention, and elasticity of various fibers.
I LOVE your yarn. It is the best quality and I use it for nearly all of my knitting. The only complaint I have is that I have found the color bleeds, sometimes significantly, when I wash them. Is there I way for me to treat this? I find that I have to wash my yarn before I knit, especially when I am working stranded projects. I know I could just steam-block my pieces but is there a way then that I could clean and freshen my knits without washing them?
