I absolutely ADORE the Harmony Options......well, ANY Harmony needle :) I have a straight set, three dpn's and added all the sizes to the Interchangeable set I was given over a year ago. My only complaint would be that they don't come in any size smaller than a 4. I'm an avid sock knitter....and would love to add the smaller sizes to my Interchangeable set. Hoping this is under consideration :)
Twisd: You'll probably get an answer from admin, but as I understand it, it isn't possible with the current technology to do options any smaller. The cable connections are just too big for the tiny sizes. However, the small circs aren't much more expensive than the tips would be. I do socks on two circs, so I have sets of two circs in every size up to 3 in both NP and Harmony. (My cataracts are starting to interfere with my vision, and in dim light, it's easier to see light yarn against the Harmonies and dark yarn against the NP, so I have both.) I keep my sets of 24" circs in a notebook, using the kind of sheet protector that folds over on the top. I put the size on a sheet of paper, and put that in with the needles. If you do Magic Loop, all you need is one of each. Happy knitting! --Peggy
Peggy, Say it isn't so. First the thumbs, then the cataracts. Bummer. My eyes seem to be going downhill fast and I think I'm in the same boat. Sometimes it's hard to see the stitches on the pretty wooden Harmony needles. In fact, I have a friend in the hospital today having a cataract removed. It sounds as if you found a good way to store those needles....will have to try that. Little by little, I get better organized. One of the projects I'm working on now is the little Christmas ornament sweater from KnitPicks pattern. I'm doing them on two circs, and it's working out nicely. I keep thinking of Cat Bordhi's video where she talks about letting the needles hang down like an udder on a goat. Too funny!
Angel: Yes, cataracts! That explains why I'm tripping over Rocky unless I have all the lights on! Now, at least, DH will let me keep the lights on in the daytime! I can see fine if I have really good light, but DH's FI sleeveless cardi is all muted colors, and if you add dim light to it...big problem. At least it's something that can be fixed, so I'm lucky. Yes, Cat Bordhi is a crack-up, isn't she? The first time I used two circs was when I was working on the sleeves for my Cable Down Raglan sweater. I didn't have dpns in the right size, and no 16" circ, so I used two circs of the same size but different lengths. It worked great! --P

I have been knitting with the harmony interchangeable needles and they will not stay screwed together. Am I missing something? Does anybody else have this problem?
Also, hold the tip by the metal base while you're tightening it. That way, you won't put any stress on the join. I keep little squares of rubberized shelf liner in all my knitting bags just for that purpose. It works on jars, too! And I have a lamp on my bedside table that's hard to turn on and off. It has a switch that turns. It just turns around in my fingers. I keep one of those squares there, too. --P
Pam,
I have found that if you tighten them using something rubbery... like a piece of old rubber glove, some shelf liner, or the like, that they will not unscrew. Be sure to use the little tool in the hole on the tip of the cable. --S
