Loved interview with Charlene Schurch! I totally agree that knitting socks is very much like modifying a recipie. There is the basic sock formula, and all we do is add the various patterns to the mix. Length very often doesn't change, heel flaps, gussets, toes all the same. What could go wrong? And yet sometimes things do go wrong on occassion for some. However, I have been happy with all my results.
I would also like more information about the types of shawls that you talked about. Maybe the name of your favorite pattern in each of them or at least a name of each type so that I can find some of them. I just started my first shawl and think I am going to be knitting allot of them. I love the podcast and always learn something new. Thanks!
I want to second (or third I suppose) the sentiment about the podcast being educational as well as entertaining. I love that Kelley seems to really love the classics (EZ) but at the same time she is willing to share her new adventures, such as dyeing. Also, the insights she gives into actually running the business are fascinating. The way new yarns are chosen and new colors is very interesting and not something that is covered by any other podcast I've found so far. I for one never had a problem understanding her speech, but then again I'm also an avid LimenViolet listener and the two of them are very fast.
Where did the show notes get moved to? I wanted to go to some of the sites Kelly was talking about after I listened to the latest pod cast, but don't know where to find the show notes.
So you are planning on putting shownotes for new shows on Kelly's blog? Seems to me that it would be better to give them their own pages. The notes in the blog from the Kathleen Taylor episode were not complete in my opinion. I would have liked to see a link to her blog at least.
I'm a little behind the times with my podcast listening, and as I was listening to you podcast from 3/14, the interview with Charlene Schurch, and she mentioned a gram scale. My husband and I have a digital food scale that measures in grams and ounces. Maybe I'm silly, but I would think that you could use something like that in a pinch. I want to say it cost about $20, and relatively accurate (as I just went upstairs and measured several skeins to test it).
Hope I've found the right place to ask my question. I was listening to a recent Knitpicks podcast and Kelley mentioned a Kitchener stitch "trick" she learned from EZ. I was walking at the time and now I can't remember how it went. Does anyone recall what the trick is?
Thanks
Kelley,
Thank you so much for the podcasts. I listen while excercising, while commuting, while my husband watches TV that I don't care for. In one of you recent podcasts you mentioned that you would like to knit EZ's Stonington Shawl with Alpaca Cloud. Yummy! I would like to do the same and because you and I live in different parts of the country, I think no one will see us together both wearing our shawls. My questions are: how much yarn do you think I will need and what size needles do you recommend? I've never made a shawl before and I anticipate enjoying it very much.
Hey. I can't remember which podcast it was where Kelley talked about a gansey sweater book, do you remember? Are her podcasts indexed with links to the books and things she talks about? and if so where would I find that?
Thank you.
