Help!!! I am addicted to Kelley's podcasts and download them onto my MP3. I also burn them onto cds for a friend. How do I now do that with the new format? I loved just right clicking and saving it to my documents. I can't figure out how to save them now.
You can save the mp3 files directly from the main page of the Knitting Community. If you look at the music player in the upper left corner of the main page, you'll see all of the podcasts listed in the playlist, the most recent at the top. To the right of the title of each track is a little icon of an arrow pointing down - if you click on this, you can download that track right to your computer.
Another neat feature of this new music player is that you can also use it as a jukebox to stream Kelley's podcast. Next to the play/stop buttons, there are three little icons: one for playback (normal, repeat, or shuffle) one for "popping out" the player, and one for volume. If you click on the pop-out button, your browser will open a new little window with a music player loaded with all of Kelley's podcasts. You can leave this window open while you browse other sites and can listen to Kelley's podcast for as long as you'd like!
In Podcast #37, Kelley talked about lace projects and the box stitch. I tried to do the Pi Shawl knitalong and never did get the circular cast on right. I have knitted socks with fingering weight yarn, but I never have worked with lace weight yarn. Could you recommend a lace weight yarn and book or pattern for beginning lace projects. I was thinking of knitting starting with a rectangular lace shawl and then going back to the Pi Shawl. Thanks. Kimberly
We have a knitalong for Alison Jeppson Hyde's book "Wrapped in Comfort," which gives excellent beginning lace knitting instructions and patterns for 16 different lace shawls from easy to advanced. And our new lace weight yarns are coming out this week - check out our new colors in Gloss Lace, Shadow, and Shimmer!
Can you please point me to an example of the shawl you talked about in the last podcast that sort of looks like a triangle, but is long enough to wrap around and secure? I'd love to try making one of those.
Can someone tell me how I can download your podcasts to my new I touch. I am not podcast savy at all but would like to be able to listen to them on my pod rather than on my PC. I sure this is dumb question but I am not I tunes trained at all and it is very interesting to try to navigate through.
Sure! Here's the link to our instructions in the Discussion Forum for how to access the podcast in a couple of different ways. And here is a link to Apple's video tutorials on how to manage iTunes and download music and podcasts. Hope this helps!
I love your podcasts Kelley. I listen to most of them out there (while knitting, of course), but I learn the most about knitting from you. Thanks for not being afraid to be instructional and not just entertaining!
I'm still having trouble with the new format--clicking on the arrows doesn't download the file for me.
I click on the button and my browser just "opens" a blank page and doesn't allow me to save it to my computer...This is what happens if I don't do the "save target as" with the podcast button in the old format. But there is no way to "save target as" in this case. Because of the blog post, I was able to download the latest episode but I can't get at some of the old ones.
Hi there! You can access all of the back episodes at http://knitpicks.libsyn.com/ - this is our hosting service for the podcasts. We're also going to move over all of the old podcasts descriptions to the Knitting Community site over the next week or so, and we'll update the podcast download/streaming instructions in the Discussion Forum when we do.
Could you make sure we can download the mp3 file so it can be transfered to an mps player to use? I don't seem to be able to subscribe with my Zune and this is how I have been listening to them. Right now I am unable to download an mp3 file from the website as I used to be able to do.
I will be so disappointed if I cannot do this anymore.
