The main ways to knit are English style and Continental style. However, there are infinite variations that will still produce knits and purls. Annie Modesitt explains how to knit combined style in "Confessions of a Knitting Heretic". Also you can try using a Norwegian purl method which is demonstrated here: http://www.knittinghelp.com/videos/purl-stitch
Or you could knit and purl backwards (also called left handed knitting which is useful in entrelac).
Right now, we are working on making videos for all of the basic knitting techniques, but after that we can try making videos of variations of these techniques.
A computer-illiterate friend of mine has been looking for instructions on duplicate st (Swiss darning). I can do it for her, but I haven't had much experience with it. If you do one, I can operate the computer for her, while she looks on. You can read hundreds of books, but seeing it in motion makes it much easier. Thanks. --Peggy
Any chance of video Podcasts in the future? Some topics are all but impossible to visual from a verbal description. Maybe one a month or one a week as a video podcast?
We're on it! Kelley has been video blogging - you can check out all of her posts here. She has a ton of short videos planned, including office events, technique lessons, and video book reviews.
I'd love to see a video on picking up stitches vs. knitting up stitches. I just listened to Kelly's podcast #39 and while I understand that there is a difference, I can't visualize what it is and can't find any videos on it (even if I could, I'd prefer a KP video because they're just better. ;) Thanks!!
Also, I found a bunch of videos on youtube posted by kelley that would be really great tutorials to have here I think...especially the kitchener stitch one (my favorite!), applied i-cord border, etc. Is there any chance these videos will make their way to the KP website?
